Hey! Fancy seeing you here. My name is Lauren, and I’m an 18y/o passionate about making the world neuroinclusive ♾️ 🧠 through technology💻. When I’m not reading scientific journals, you can find me running or flipping around (yes, I mean this literally!)
🎄🎅🏻 ⛪️ …
Before I recap the last month of 2022, I truly embraced the holidays with much need for R & R. I want to use that as my excuse for publishing this late newsletter.
Atlas, here’s a long-awaited recap of 12/22.
Consulting @Walmart?
Yes, you heard that correctly!
As I mentioned in my previous newsletter, in December, we (my group) concluded our slide deck and completed solutions for the global challenge with Walmart. After multiple late-night video calls, we finally complied with our solutions. As genZ students, we wanted to emphasize in-store efficiency with digital touchpoints.
In summary, this opportunity was incredible, and I’m beyond grateful to have had the chance to consult for a multi-billion dollar company.
Shoutout to my former group members. It was such a pleasure to share this experience with you all!
“Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” 🏫✅
As an avid nerd, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t excited about my higher education career. Throughout the years, I switched between various ideas regarding my possible major. However, with my recent interest in brain-computer interfaces + neurodiversity, I doubt I will have any issues surrounding the specifics of what I want to study.
While I plan to hold off from mentioning the exact details at the moment, I promise more info will be coming soon 😉
“To See, or Not to See” 🧠💻👀
In December (+ the beginning of January), I completed my 1st BCI Project for my “focus” on brain-computer interfaces. I've always been obsessed with the human brain. But, I never realized I could use EEG technology to apply this passion in my home.
For this project, I used an EEG headset from Emotiv alongside the BrainViz 3D visualization software. I could capture neuroelectrical activity within my occipital lobe by closing my eyes.
Did you know that it’s possible to elicit alpha waves in the central visual area of the brain if you close your eyes?
Adios, Readers✌🏻
