[sep/oct24] rowing + comp-bio research!
🍂 🍁 fall updates by lauren pearson - @inside lauren's brain

Hi, I’m Lauren. I’m passionate about neuroscience & AI. This summer, I built at the intersection of neuro-oncology and artificial intelligence. Currently, I’m studying humanbio + cs @uoft - while exploring human augmentation.
what I did…
I made the rowing team at my university (@ uoft) and raced @ my 1st regatta in the NW8+ boat #goblues! 💙💙
^ I also filmed a little DIML yt short - click here to watch!
I started working as a researcher at a computational biology lab; currently, I’m exploring gLMs & using ML techniques to identify regulatory motifs. 💻 🧬
I got bored while commuting home & cooked 🍳 up this rower position quiz
what I learned…
chose your priorities wisely. It's impossible to be a high performer in each & every single aspect of your life. find out what you value the most and…
never underestimate the importance of time management‼️
How so? You likely have way more time in the day than you think; it ultimately comes down to how efficiently you use that time.
my advice is to stop overcomplicating this with pretty planners or aesthetic notion pages.
the fewer steps, the better when it comes to creating frictionless organizational systems
^ disclaimer: I am by no means an expert at this and am still learning as I go 😅
what I consumed…
My friend
shared an essay he wrote entitled “Find the Best People”since I was younger, I have worried about outgrowing different relationships.
I was so concerned that I couldn't fit in somewhere else. In reality, this belief was holding me back.
I also enjoyed reading about optogenetics after coming across Stanford professor Karl Deisseroth’s optogenetics lab webpage.
I'm excited to revisit the self-study materials over the winter break ❄️☃️
✌🏻till next (month)…
