[august 24] @ residency c3 demo day + celebrating life
august '24 updates by lauren pearson - @inside lauren's brain
Hi, I’m Lauren. I’m passionate about neuroscience & AI. This summer, I built at the intersection of neuro-oncology and artificial intelligence. Currently, I’m studying neurosci + cs @uoft & exploring human augmentation.
what I did…
I presented my machine learning x neuro-onc project during the residency (@harvard/mit)’s final demo day!
^ [huge s/o to ramses @neurable1for sponsoring + supporting @ c house’s final demo day pitches]
I had lunch with
aka physician-turned-biosecurity rep. we had a great convo about the intersection of policy legislation with biotech innovation ;)I reunited with my 1517 Fund fam @ the Will to Power Summit in Toronto,2 Canada - eh! 🇨🇦
I stayed consistent with my sidequest to no longer be a NARP3, which led me to explore new trails & waterfront courses🏃🏻♀️➡️ 🌊
what I learned…
@ the 1517 summit, Stephen Balaban (CEO of Lambda Labs) spoke abt the importance of never losing passion when working towards your goals.
If you don’t genuinely feel passionate about your work… it’ll be impossible to overcome the guaranteed setbacks you encounter.
Uncertainty is unavoidable. This month, I was blessed to have encountered different paths. I developed the following strategy to ease my anxiety with the unknown actively…
Ask yourself: “Did I take necessary action on the things within my control?”
if YES ➡️, there’s no logical reason to stress over it anymore.
if NO ➡️, identify your best next step & take action as needed.
what I consumed…
Getting reintroduced to mathematical set theory - with 🥗 salads? I found a fun mathematical essay on the topic (check it out here!)
I'm throwing it back to the 80s 🤘🏻 as I’ve been obsessed with Alphaville’s 2019 remastered version of “Forever Young.”
✌🏻till next (month)…
If you've made it this far, you’re a real one! While you’re here, check out my twitter/x or find me at laurenap.com. You can also email me at laurenapearsonn@gmail.com!
as always, stay curious + be kind - lauren
s/o to neurable for making history in the world of non-invasive brain-computer interfaces; congrats on the MW75 Neuro launch. I have immense gratitude for Ramses & the entire team - keep killing it out there 🔥🔥
technically, the 1517 summit happened at the end of July (and not August), but the experience was too memorable to disclude from my summer newsletters.
NARP is a slang term commonly used by college 🏫 students when referring to non-student athletes (i.e., NARP: non-athletic-regular-person).
